Training with friends
October is here. Fall is here and winter is coming – at least if you are living in Europe like me.
Copenhagen where I live is great for cycling – just from October until May ;) But we do keep training because in the end, rain og shine, we love cycling.
One of the best things to do when weather gets a bit cold is to train with friens. There are many benefits for a triathletes to train with a group.
First of all it will be a nice change from the type of training you should have been focusing on before you big race – given you do non draft events. Here the focus but be time trials which is fun but not the most social part of cycling.
Cycling is a very social sport and you should enjoy some rides with others where you just go by feel – which most often will be very hard from time to time and very slow at other parts of such a ride. Indeed very different than the steady state events long distance triathlons are. Remember that variation is the spicy of life :)
You will also be riding more and more inside. It is great for motivation to do trainer sessions with friends who are also riding their trainer. This way you keep the training very social yet train individually.
If you remember to keep variation in your training it is often more fun. If training is fun you are more likely to do it day by day. Consistency is the key to top level performance.
